On 30 April 2024, I will visit the Department of Philosophy at the University of Kansas to speak to faculty and students. The (provisional) title of my talk is: Margaret Cavendish on Virtue and its Value.
On 26-27 April 2024, I will be in Denver, Colorado to speak at the Traveling Early Modern Philosophy Organization conference. The title of my talk is: Margaret Cavendish on Music.
On June 12, I will visit Colchester Museums to speak to its staff and volunteers about the life and work of Margaret Cavendish. This year marks the 400th anniversary of Cavendish birth to the Lucas family in St John's Abbey in Colchester.
With Paul Lodge (Oxford) and Marcy P. Lascano (Kentucky), I am organising a workshop on Margaret Cavendish at the University of Oxford, July 14-15. I will present a paper. The title is "Cavendish on Music". More details here.
On 10 May 2023, I will be contributing to a symposium on my book, The Range of Reasons (OUP, 2021), organised by Davide Fassio (Zhejiang University) and confirmed contributors include Claire Field (Glasgow), Clayton Littlejohn (Australian Catholic University), Daniel Star (Boston), and Stephen Kearns (Florida State). On 5-7 September 2022, I will be attending the inaugural conference of the British Society for the Theory of Knowledge. I will be one of the plenary speakers, and the title of my talk is: Is Margaret Cavendish a naive realist?
(Spoiler alert: Yes, she is.) From September 16-18 2021, I will participating (remotely) in a Festschrift Symposium for Hans-Johann Glock at the University of Zürich. The title of my talk is: Wittgenstein's Later Nonsense.
I will be a panel member at the 79th Annual Meeting of the American Society for Aesthetics in Montreal, Canada from November 17th to 20th 2021. Due to (surprise!) the ongoing pandemic, I will not be there in person. Instead, I will present online at 14:45 EST (19:45 GMT) on Friday 19th. The title of my talk is: Cavendish on Beauty.
